PAX East: Day 0

So! I’m going to be making a blog post for every day of my PAX trip so I figured I might as well begin with a day 0 post. I took the train all the way up to Boston for the convention. I’ve never taken the train (in recent memory) and certainly not alone, so I’ll admit I was quite nervous about how it would all operate. Once I was on the train however, it was smooth sailing all the way to Boston.

I spent the vast majority of my ride watching Re: ZERO on my laptop, which has got me absolutely gripped. As of writing this, I’ve just finished season 1 and I plan to start season 2 before heading to bed for the night. If you’re not familiar with it, Re: ZERO is an anime where the main character, Natsuki Subaru, is suddenly and without warning transported into a fantasy world. However, unbeknownst to him, every time he dies, he will be sent back in time with all his memories, including the gruesome details of his death. The story follows him trying to protect all of his new friends against the multitude of threats surrounding them all while also coping with both the fact that they won’t remember him when he loops and the stress of repeatedly dying in brutal ways.

But now, onto my plans for PAX. I found out this morning that there’s a shuttle between my hotel and the convention center, which is convenient. I do plan to walk to the convention center at least tomorrow, however. My route would take me right over Boston Harbor, which I think would be a fun walk. Tomorrow is the day when Matthew “MatPat” Patrick is giving his Storytime panel which I’m really hoping to get into to see live. Additionally, I’ve also found out that Brian David Gilbert, another popular YouTube creator, is going to be at PAX this year. I’m excited by both the possibilities for tomorrow as well as this whole week and I’ll be posting about day 1 tomorrow!
