About Me!

Hello there! Thank you for taking the time to read more about me. My name is Collin Chandler and I am a life-long gamer. Ever since I realized that games don’t just appear out of thin air, I knew that I wanted to make them. My first “real” game system (outside of the PC) was the Nintendo Wii, and its innovative controls and library of games inspired creativity in me. Today, I am primarily a PC gamer, with some of my favorite games being World of Warcraft, Celeste, Outer Wilds, the Portal series, Path of Exile, and Factorio. I also have been trying to join more game jams lately, some entries to which are listed in my projects.

Outside of video games, I have several other hobbies of varying levels of relatedness. I love to build computers and tinker with electronics, for example, which stemmed from my love of computer games. Additionally, I’ve been playing music for about as long as I’ve been playing games. As a child I took piano lessons but my love of music really kicked off in middle school, when I became a percussionist in band. Once I entered high school, I joined the marching band drumline, as well as multiple other extracurricular bands, such as pep band, jazz band, and symphonic orchestra. For symphonic orchestra, in my senior year, I arranged a suite of video game music from over the generations to be played. I also performed solo in a handful of talent-show-esque performances, usually playing guitar and singing. I was in the highest level band class and took AP Music Theory my senior year, achieving a 5 on the exam. Outside of school, I’ve taught myself several instruments, such as guitar, ukulele, bass, as well as picking up piano again. I also occasionally make music or covers of songs I like, and enjoy analyzing soundtracks from video games, TV shows, movies, and musicals.

Back on the gaming front, I’m also a huge fan of tabletop games and board games. As of writing this (February 2024), I’ve just started running a campaign using the LANCER TTRPG system in a world of my own design, as well as playing as a player in a handful of other games. As a gamemaster, I really enjoy worldbuilding and writing little notes and articles about my world that basically no one but me will ever see so that my players can have as clear of a picture of my imagination as I do. As a player, I enjoy taking tropes and bending them in directions I’ve never explored before, such as a character whose parents were killed, but has no one to hunt down in revenge for the action, as the incident was resolved long before the campaign began.

Finally, I love to listen to audiobooks, specifically Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere as well as his other works. I’ll often listen to books while playing games or working on projects, and I’ve reread his works multiple times for inspiration in my own creations, both in TTRPGs as well as my game projects.

About My Game Design!

I am a graduate of Full Sail University, having earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Game Design. I am currently looking for an entry level job that will give me the experience and connections I need to thrive in the industry. While a good portion of my time at Full Sail was spent doing level design, I am very adept at writing and interpreting design documents, and I have a great interest in doing more mechanics design. I have experience with industry standard organizational tools such as Jira, Confluence, Trello, Perforce, and Git, and I’m an active learner, always looking to try new things and improve my skills. I am open to any entry level job in the games industry, including but not limited to QA, customer support, and entry level design jobs. I am also open to remote work, but I’m willing and eager to relocate anywhere in the United States, as well as potentially Canada.
